Planned Event: Today we celebrated National book week by having book character dress up day. Hunter came in as an engine driver from Thomas the Tank Engine, he also brought a book which was Thomas. When the Joeys had group time Sandra got the Thomas book and read it to the children. The children all sat down on the mats and listened to the book as the story was read Hunter, Elya and Marlee made a Choo Choo sound. Abuk, Elijah, Jack, Aarvi, Nathan and Tilly were all showing that they were listening by facing Sandra as the book was being read. As Sandra turned the pages she asked the children who knows what colour this engine was. Lucas said "red". I asked the children what sound does a train make Lucas said "choo choo" and Hunter also said "choo choo". The children continued to listen to the book and once the book was over then Sandra read " the three little pigs " to the children. The children have been acting out the story with puppets.After the story was finished the children that got dressed up had a photo Elya was Moana, Marlee was Blipee, Pilar was a Strawberry, Tilly was a paramedic, Hunter was a train driver from Thomas and Elijah was a dinosaur and Sandra and Kylie dressed up as Where's wally.

Critical Reflection.As the educator I was able to scaffold the children's learning by asking the children about the sound a train made and I was able to give them time to respond verbally to the question that was being asked. Follow up continue with book week activities
